Kruger National Park

Kruger National Park is a treasure. This was my first and only time on a Safari, and what better way to experience one than in South Africa!

The Park is over a four-hour drive from Johannesburg. Therefore, we stayed at a hotel the night before the safari. The hotel I stayed at was Premier Hotel The Winkler. This hotel is beautiful. However, if you are not the outdoors type then this may not be for you unless you stay in your room during your entire stay!

I did the sunset game drive, which sounds amazing unless you had my luck and woke up to cloudy weather, so there was no sunrise. Not to mention it was cold at that time of the morning. The only animal I wanted to see were lions, which is rare. Therefore, I took the three-hour open vehicle.

The drives aim to see the Big 5: Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Lion, and Rhino. I was fortunate enough to see all five (although all are not pictured below. Although they aren’t considered dangerous, Buffalo’s and Rhino’s are some huge creatures. I would pass out on sight if I encountered one outside an open-door vehicle!

Despite the cold and cloudy weather to start the day. This was a fun experience, and I highly recommend it, especially if you are with a great group of people.
