Panama City, Panama

Add panama to the list of countries that i love!

This was my first time visiting Panama City, Panama, and I loved it. It didn’t feel like I was in a “foreign” country. At times, I felt like I was in Miami; other times, I felt like I was in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Everyone I met was delicious, and the food was to die for! I had the best seafood of my life while visiting Panama City. Hotel staff, Uber drivers, and good ol' TikTok gave me recommendations. I didn’t have one bad meal here.

Panama City itself is very modern and fast-paced. I’m talkin’ “Starbucks right next door to my hotel’ modern.

Speaking of hotels, I stayed at the Riu Panama Plaza Hotel. This was an affordable hotel with a great view and a good breakfast that was included.

Places Where I Ate My Life Away:

  • Concolon (Dope strret food!)

  • Sabores del Chorrillo (I wanted to cry while eating because it was that good.)

  • La Casa del Marisco-ACHA (I ate here multiple times during my trip.)

Things I Did Besides Eat My Life Away:

  • Catamaran Tour to Taboga Island: I was not crazy about this tour. I wouldn’t do it again.

  • Full City Panama Tour: This is an excellent start to your trip by seeing what the city offers and what parts of the city you want to spend most of your time.

  • Casco Viejo Photoshoot Tour: This was an excellent tour! Our photographer and tour guide gave us a historical tour of Casco Viejo while taking our pictures as we explored the area. This tour was worth the money and memories that came with it.

You can book most of these tours here.

Nightlife:

Casco Viejo is where you want to be for nightlife. The area is lined with restaurants and plenty of bars. I enjoyed some great drinks on my final night in Panama at a rooftop bar called Casa Casco. They also have a live DJ at night. It’s a good time!

Other things to Note:

Panama has a strong economy because of the Panama Canal. The US dollar and the Panamanian Balboa are 1 to 1. As such, they take US dollars, and you do not have to worry about exchanging money.
